Great find!
They have a way of changing things in a subtle way. Most of the members have neither read or ever seen the book. Now,the word ''may'' will be ingrained in everyone's head. The ''light'' is getting darker and darker for the WTS.
just noticed that in the february 2010 study edition of the watchtower, they refer to the "millions now living will never die" talk in 1918, but they have changed the title to "millions now living may never die".
only problem, they included the picture of the invitation to the talk, which says 'will'.. ooops.
it's on page 16. enjoy.. .

i saw a beatles thread was started about favorite songs- so i thought i'd start several threads on other groups who were very important in rock and rolls development !
here are my favorites from led zeppelin, kind of in order.. .
1. stairway to heaven.
Flipper : I'm the biggest Led Zeppelin fan out there. I had all their albums(before c.d.'s came out) and saw them live in concert in 1977 sitting in the 5th row. It was so loud that I couldn't hear for 2 days. I purchased a poster that night of the band and taped it on my wall when I got home. My mom (who was just starting to study with the Witnesses) took the poster down and ripped it into pieces. She said that the band and I were all posessed from the DEVIL.
I think that the album ''PHYSICAL GRAFFITI" was their best album. One thing I really liked about them was that no two albums ever sounded alike.
Here is a group called DREAD ZEPPELIN who mixed Elvis with Led Zeppelin. See what you think.
''Let's waste another year as the ''End'' will be near sometime in our future as the ''End Times'' draws closer''.
i just came back from a 12 day carribean cruise and visited the islands of grenada, saint lucia, barbados, and 4 other islands.
the temperature was around 90 degrees every day.
it is that warm all year round for them.. all around the street markets and shopping areas we saw jehovah's witnesses street witnessing .

All around the street markets and shopping areas we saw Jehovah's Witnesses street witnessing . They were all sitting around in the shade holding a Watchtower magazine without ever talking to anyone. They held up the magazine while talking to each other. I watched them for about 20 minutes while my wife shopped and never saw anyone approach them .
Did you ever street witness? What were you told to do when you went street witnessing? Is holding a magazine really preaching or just getting in service time?
i just took my dog out for a walk and found an awake laying on the ground, all wet where someone threw it.
so i picked it up because i thought it would be worth a few laughs.
i'm absolutely stunned by the amount of statements they make, statitstics they quote without naming a source.
AdaMakawee : Where were the quote sources about the brothers and sisters in Uganda who travel 10 miles without shoes thru mountains and alligator infested waters to go to their meetings while we have the comforts of cars and air conditioning?
That was their way of telling us that we were all slackers!
yes, what was the biggest lie that you can think of, that persuaded you to realize that they were not who they said they were ?.
for myself it would have to be the year they picked as the destruction of ancient jerusalem 607 bc.. i have an assumption this was done purposely to coincide correctly with making 1914 an a important pivotal date.
in human history, which by all factual evidence it was not.. unassuming and deceiving manipulation for self marketing purposes.
The biggest lie..................................That a bunch of old white men who live in New York represent themselves as the ''faithful an discreet slave.'' They use a ''parable'' to fool everyone into thinking that God chose them in which all members cannot question their authority, beliefs, doctrines, and practices.
it's ridiculous.
i saw this so much in my 44 years in the jehovah's witness cult.
whether it was elders, pioneers, or other people in the cult criticizing others for working too much at their employment or missing some service or meetings due to employment.
flipper
Our Kingdom Hall had numerous talks on how missing meetings due to working overtime and working second shift were due to brothers not being spiritual enough. We were told to look for new work even if it meant lower wages. The brothers who missed meetings due to working on meeting nights were never called to say a prayer for the congregation. Also,no book studies were ever held at a brothers house who was working on meeting nights.
We had a brother who never graduated high school (who worked as a welder working second shift making over $30 hour)who was told numerous times to seek new employment because he missed too many meetings. He never listened to them. Where was he going to get a job making $30 hour with no high school education?
My brother quit his job at a grocery store working long hours because he was hounded by the elders. We also had a brother who worked in concrete construction quit his job because he worked too many hours and missed too many meetings. After he quit his job,he was unemployed for over 1 year. His wife went back to work to help the household.

THE ORACLE & PARAKEET
Thanks for your great posts! I'm laughing as I write this.

1 Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: 2 "Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you." 3 Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very important city—a visit required three days. 4 On the first day, Jonah started into the city. He proclaimed: "Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned." 5 The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
I no longer believe in the story of Jonah. But as Jehovah's Witnesses we believed that Jonah was given a real message to declare to the people of Ninevah. He gave them a warning that they were to act upon.
Today, there is no real message but just Watchtower and Tract presentations. If these are really ''the last days'', why doesn't Jehovah have a real message for the Witnesses to preach?
if you were to give a brief description of what you know already of this organization, how would you define it yourself ?.
.
my definition would be a an exploitive and manipulating free wheeling religious publishing company.. i might add none of this would have been at all possible without the freedom of religion policy of the united states.. it very well started out that way and continues to this very day.. intellectually dishonest but very commercial in its intension.. .
HOMER
The Watchtower Society is a made- up religion by a man that had to much time on his hands. He took a little religion from here and a little from there and added some screwy ideas of his own. He wanted it to stand out. Most of his followers were tired of their own religion. This one stood out.
Then, you get screwball Judge Rutherford who takes this religion and turns it into a tax free business. Send out all the workers to sell and peddle preach your own written books and magazines. ADVERTISE! ADVERSTISE!
Now it becomes a book publishing business. Tell the members that blood is on their hands if you don't sell and peddle preach the good news!
Have a book study(where you buy a book) and a Ministry School (where you teach each one how to sell these books.) Print a Watchtower Magazine( and sell to every member and public.) Make them hand in a time report to see which ones obey the command to sell the literature.
